Water in 20 rivers register rise, 68 fall

DHAKA, Aug 17, 2018 (BSS) – Water levels in 20 rivers stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise and 68 stations recorded fall.

Among the 94 monitored water level stations, eight were steady, a bulletin issued by FFWC said today.

All the major rivers were flowing below their respective danger levels.

The Brahmaputra-Jamuna Rivers were in steady state which may continue in next 24 hours.

The Ganges River was in steady state while the Padma river was falling.

This situation may continue in next 48 hours.

The Major rivers of the Upper Meghna basin were in falling trend except the Khowai at Ballah.

All the major rivers of this basin may fall in next 48 hours.

A total of 99 mm rainfall was recorded during last 24 hours ending at 6 am today at Habiganj and 64 mm at Chandpur Bagan.
