Bangladesh-Thailand match end 1-1 draw in Asian Games

DHAKA, Aug 16, 2018 (BSS)- The Bangladesh U-23 team, despite taking a
lead, had to remain satisfied with one match point as they played out to a 1-
1 goal draw with Thailand U-23 football team in their second Group B match of
the Asian Games today (Thursday) at Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong in Indonesia.

With this outcome, Bangladesh opened their account with one point from two
matches while Thailand improved their tally with two points playing the same
number of matches.

After the barren first half, Mahbubur Rahman broke the deadlock scoring
the first goal for Bangladesh in the 52nd minute while Supache Chaided
restored the parity for Thailand in the 80th minute of the match.

The boys in red and greens, who failed to advance in the knock out stage,
will lock horn against Qatar in their third and final Group B encounter on
Sunday (August 19).

Earlier, Bangladesh made a losing start as they went down to a 0-3 goal
defeat to Uzbekistan while Thailand, which confirmed their knock out stage
with the day’s result, also played out to a 1-1 goal draw with Qatar in their
respective group opening matches.
