IU-MOURNING-DAY
National Mourning Day observed at IU
ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, Aug 15, 2018 (BSS) – The authority of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia observed the National Mourning Day and 43rd Martyrdom Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the campus in a befitting manner today.
Marking the day, a mourning procession was brought out from the premises of administrative building led by university Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari.
IU Pro-VC Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha, acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif, teachers, officials and students of the university took part here. The procession was ended at the foot of ‘Mrittunjoyee Mujib’ mural after parading the main roads of the campus.
Later, the VC placed floral wreaths to the mural on behalf of the university authority.
Then, progressive teachers alliances Bangabandhu Parishod, Shapla Forum, Bangabandhu Hall and IU unit of BCL also placed floral wreaths here.
After placing wreaths, a prayer was offered for the eternal peace of departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members.
Meanwhile, Bangabandhu Parishod, Shapla Forum and IU unit BCL organised ‘Kangali Voj’ on the campus to mark the day.
