Govt. to bring back the fugitives of Aug 21 attack

DHAKA, Aug 15, 2018 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has
said that the government is pledged bound to bring back the fugitives of
August 21 grenade attack in 2004 before the judgment of the case.

“Police and intelligence officials located nine most wanted fugitives
out of 18 in different countries and multi-dimensional approaches are on
progress to bring back them soon,” he said while talking to BSS at his
office.

Mohiul Islam, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of National Central
Bureau (NCB) told BSS that the International Police Organization (INTERPOL)
issued separate ‘red notices’ in all of its member countries to find out the
location of five most wanted accused of the case in 2015 and 2017.

They are-BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, former BNP lawmaker
Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad, former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia’s special
assistant Abul Haris Chowdhury, BNP’s former deputy minister Abdus Salam
Pintu’s two brothers Maulana Tajuddin Ahmed and Ratul Ahmed Babu alias Ratul
Babu.

According to the NCB and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID),
most wanted accused of the case Maulana Tajuddin Ahmed and his younger
brother Ratul Babu have been hiding in South Africa.

Former BNP MP Kazi Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad has been hiding in Saudi
Arabia and Haris Chowdhury moved through United Kingdom, Malaysia, Singapore,
USA and India.

Two other major suspects-former major general ATM Amin and former Lt
Colonel Saiful Islam Joarder have been hiding in Dubai, according to Abdul
Kahar Akond, Additional Deputy Inspector General (Adi.DIG) of CID.

Besides, Mohibul Mustakin and his brother Anisul Mursalin are now in
Tihar Jail in India and extradition process is progressing, Kahar added.
