Bangabandhu’s killing stunned whole world: academics

RANGPUR, Aug 15, 2018 (BSS)-Academicians at a discussion have said the
Bangalee nation and the world community were stunned knowing assassination of
Bangabandhu, the most popular world leader of the time, by conspirators on
August 15, 1975.

They said this on Tuesday afternoon while addressing the discussion
followed by an essay writing competition on Bangabandhu jointly organised by
Rangpur units of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) and Bangabandhu
Foundation on Town Hall premises in the city.

President of Rangpur unit of BSJ Advocate Ziaul Hasan Zia presided over the
occasion organised in observance of the National Mourning Day-2018 and 43rd
martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman.

Member of the Parliament Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia attended the
discussion as the chief guest.

Chairman of Rangpur Zila Parishad Advocate Chhafia Khanom was present as
special guest.

Former treasurer of Begum Rokeya University Professor Mozammel Haque,
Professor Sarifa Salowa Dina, former head of the Department of Bengali of
Rangpur Government Rokeya College Professor Shah Alam and member-secretary of
Rangpur unit of Bangabandhu Foundation Atikul Alam addressed.

Professor Haque discussed the life and works of Bangabandhu and said the
present and future generations should know the philosophy, ideals and
sacrifice of the selfless patriot and the unparalleled friend of the people.

Professor Dina said Bangabandhu was assassinated as part of a deep-rooted
conspiracy at such a crucial time when he had engaged himself in
restructuring the war-torn nation with the spirit of the War of Liberation.

“Bangabandhu was the most popular world leader then and his assassination
stunned the whole world community,” she said adding that the killers were
still hatching conspiracies to turn Bangladesh into a failed state.

The chief guest said the pro-Pakistani killers took control of the state
power after assassinating Bangabandhu, frightened the people and put many of
the freedom fighters and politicians into jail.

“We would never get independence without Bangabandhu,” she said and asked
all to become united for resisting the anti-liberation forces who
assassinated Bangabandhu to reverse our hard earned independence.
