BR to operate Rajshahi-Dhaka Eid special trains
RAJSHAHI, Aug 15, 2018 (BSS) – West Zone of Bangladesh Railway will operate
four pairs of special trains on different routes including Rajshahi-Dhaka
aimed at reducing sufferings of the passengers in general during Eid
festival.
Mihir Kanti Guha, Chief Commercial Manager of the zone, said today the four
special trains will be operated for making the Eid holyday makers’ journey
easy and hassle free.
The Eid special train will run on the Rajshahi-Dhaka route with sixteen
bogies during Eid festival starting from three days before the Eid and it
will continue next eight days after Eid.
The train will depart Rajshahi station at 1.30 pm and is scheduled to
reach Dhaka at 8.20 pm. On the return trip, the train leave Dhaka at 9.25 pm
and is expected to reach its destination Rajshahi at 3.30 at night, he added.
Besides, plying of the three existing intercity trains- Silk City, Padma
and Dhumketu- on the Rajshahi-Dhaka route will continue as usual. Meanwhile
the authority has taken decision to withdraw day off for intercity trains
from five days ahead of the Eid day on temporary basis.
All the intercity trains will run everyday including the day-off from
August 18 to August 30.
For the sake of ensuring proper and safe journey for the holyday makers,
all sorts of leaves of all the railway officers and staffs engaged in train
operation have been cancelled.
Golam Mostofa, Superintendent of Rajshahi Railway Station, said return
ticket sale for going to Dhaka from Rajshahi started today.
Law enforcing agencies are working to stop ticket sale in black market.
Necessary efforts were also taken to avert any problem in ticket selling, he
added.
