DHAKA, Aug 14, 2018 (BSS) – State Minister for Information Tarana Halim today said the government will set up a separate unit to inform Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) of derogatory contents on the social communication media for taking necessary action.
“We want to set up a small unit in the ministry to inform BTRC about any objectionable contents including rumours, negative campaign or provocative statements against women posted on the social media like facebook that are not true, baseless and defamatory,” said the state minister while exchanging views with journalists at the secretariat here.
She said the ministry is working to share government’s successful development programmes with the people living in the remote areas as they are also partners of the government’s development work.
Tarana said: “The government has taken a project on strengthening broadcasting programme for the development of the rural people from the Mass Media Department.”
Under the project, development news will be disseminated to the people living in 4,554 unions, she added.
