4 JMB operatives held in capital

DHAKA, Aug 13, 2018 (BSS) – Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police on Sunday night arrested four operatives of the banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from the capital’s Abdullahpur area.

“We arrested four active members of the JMB, Mohibul Islam, 22, Mozammel Haque alias Billal, 34, Delwar Hossain, 37, and Shamim Ahmed, 27, from Abdullahpur of Uttara around 8.45pm on Sunday,” deputy commissioner (public relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman told BSS today.

Police personnel also seized 96 detonators, 10 batteries and bomb producing equipment from their possessions, he also said.

“The arrestees have collected the bomb making materials to carry out subversive acts,” assistant commissioner Suman Kanti Chowdhury of DMP told BSS.

A case was lodged under Anti-Terrorism Act with Uttara Pashchim Police Station against the arrestees.
