Mentally challenged youth killed, 36 houses gutted in Ctg fire
CHATTOGRAM, Aug 12, 2018 (BSS)-A mentally challenged youth was burnt
alive inside a slum in a fire in city’s Faridarpara area under Chandgaon
Police Station this morning.
The victim was identified as Rabiul Islam, 30.
Rabiul was tied up with a chain inside his house at Shomsherpara area of
Faridarpara when the fire engulfed the entire slum around 9.45 am, slum
dwellers said.
Eight fire fighting units from Agrabad, Khalurghat and Baizid stations
rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control around 11 am, deputy
assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defense Jasim Uddin said.
A total of 36 houses were gutted in the fire. The origin and loss of the
fire could not be known immediately.
