Rain likely throughout country until early tomorrow

DHAKA, Aug 12, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD)
forecasts light to moderate rain or thundershowers throughout the country in
next 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty
wind is likely to occur at some places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh,
Dhaka and Sylhet divisions …And at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal
and Chattogram divisions,” said a met office press release here this morning.

Moderately heavy to heavy falls may also take place at some places across
the country during the time, the release added.

A low is likely to form over North Bay during next 24 hours while monsoon
is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay. The
axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar,
Gangetic West-Bengal thence northeastwards to Assam across central part of
Bangladesh and one of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay, the
released continued.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The maximum temperature was recorded 36.4 degrees Celsius yesterday at
Rajshahi while today’s minimum temperature 25.0 degrees Celsius at Ragamati
and Dimla in Chattogram and Rangpur divisions respectively.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded
187 mm at Dimla in Rangpur division.

The sun sets at 6:34 pm today and rises at 5:33 am tomorrow in the
capital.
