Five ‘Joyeeta’ women accorded in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Aug 10, 2018 (BSS)-The women are laudably contributing to every
field of national advancement through proving their ample talent, abilities
and efficiency to turn Bangladesh into a role model for development and women
empowerment.

Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hassan Ahmed made these observations at a
function held at Begum Rokeya auditorium here to accord reception to the
‘Joyeeta’ women on Thursday as the chief guest.

The Women Affairs Department (WAD) in association with divisional
administration organised the ceremony to honour five best ‘Joyeeta’ women of
Rangpur division for their tremendous contributions to different social
sectors.

The government officials, NGO executives, civil society members,
professionals, human rights and women activists and elite from all over
Rangpur division attended the function.

With Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Minu Shill in the chair,
additional director of the WAD Shahnewaz Dilruba Khan, Deputy Commissioner
Enamul Habib and Zila Parisahd Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom addressed the
function as special guests.

The five successful ‘Joyeeta’ women are Minara Khatun of Taraganj upazila
in Rangpur (economic self-reliance), Rezina Khatun of Parbotipur upazila in
Dinajpur (education and employment), Noorjahan Begum of Roumari upazila in
Kurigram (successful mother), Aklima Begum of Thakurgaon (rebuilding life
after suffering repression) and Noor Akhter Banu of Gaibandha Sadar upazila
(special contribution to social development).

All these five ‘Joyeeta’ women have established them as scintillating stars
in society through their successes in different fields and become sources of
inspiration to encourage the common people to win over various challenges in
setting up shining examples.

The speakers said the womenfolk already contributed a lot to every field
of national life speeding up development side by side with making them self-
reliant through income generation activities and employment generations.

Congratulating the ‘Joyeeta’ women, the chief guest said Bangladesh has
already become a role model for development and women empowerment following
tremendous successes achieved by the womenfolk in every field of development.

“The country would continue to advance, involving both men and women, to
establish gender equity in every sphere of the society on way to become a
middle income nation by 2021 and developed country by 2041,” he said.

Later, the chief guest distributed crests, certificates and cash money
among the best five ‘Joyeeta’ women as well as the other 35 successful women
in the ceremony followed by a cultural function.
