88th birth anniversary of Bangamata observed at JU
SAVAR, Aug 8, 2018 (BSS) – The 88th birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum
Fajilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman, was observed today on Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus with due
respect and befitting manner.
To mark the day, JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam paid homage
by placing a wreath at the portrait of Bangamata on Bangamata Begum
Fajilatunnesa Mujib hall premises at noon.
Later, hall provost Professor M Majibar Rahman with the hall
administrative body and students placed wreath and stood in front of portrait
of Begum Mujib with solemn.
During placing wreath, JU VC Professor Farzana Islam said, “Bangamata
Begum Fazilatunnesa was an ideal Bengali woman who inspired Bangabandhu to
obtain success. We commemorate her cooperation in all aspects of the
political life of Bangabandhu”.
JU Proctor Shikder Md Zulkarnine, President of JU Teachers’ Association
Professor Nurul Alam and Secretary Bashir Ahmed accompanied the VC.
Besides, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of JU unit, led by President
Jewel Rana and Secretary S M Abu Sufian Chanchal paid rich tribute to
Bangamata by placing wreath at her portrait.
They also organised a milad mahfil at the central mosque on the campus
marking the day.
