Govt to ensure homogeneous development of all regions: Mashiur

RANGPUR, Aug 7, 2018 (BSS) – The present Awami League (AL)-led government
is working sincerely to ensure homogeneous development of all regions in the
country in the light of Vision 2021 and Vision 2041 by resolving regional
discriminations.

“For this, the government has taken steps to identify obstacles for
progress of backward regions to resolve those for bringing all regions on the
development highway uniformly,” Prime Minister’s Economic Affairs Adviser Dr
Mashiur Rahman said today afternoon.

He said this while addressing a divisional seminar on ‘Development Roadmap-
Rangpur Division’ in light of Vision 2021 and Vision 2041 organised by AL’s
Central Finance and Planning Sub-committee at Chamber Bhaban here as the
chief guest.

Member-secretary of the Sub-committee and Finance and Planning Affairs
Secretary of AL Tipu Munsi, MP, moderated the seminar participated by Chamber
leaders of all eight districts in Rangpur division, academics, economists,
industrialists and elite.

Associate Professor of Bangla Department of Begum Rokeya University Dr
Tuhin Wadud and its Professor of the Department of Economics Dr Morshed
Hossain delivered two presentations in the seminar as resource persons.

The resource persons discussed massive developments already taken place all
over the country, including Rangpur division, and the prevailing prospects,
problems and discriminations in many fields in Rangpur region.

Former Vice-president of FBCCI and President of Bangladesh Chamber of
Commerce Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu, Managing Director of Novo Air Arshad
Jamal Dipu, environmentalist Dr Kaniz Aklima Sultana, Gaibandha Chamber
President Abdul Kader, former President of Rangpur Chamber Abul Kashem, its
incumbent President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu and Senior Vice-president
Mostoba Hossain Ripan, Joint Secretary of district AL Mazed Ali Babul, city
AL President Tushar Kanti Mandal, President of Rangpur Women Chamber Anwara
Ferdousi Polly, Bangladesh Small Tea Garden Owners’ Association President
Amirul Haque Khokan, among others, spoke.

They discussed prevailing prospects and problems to be resolved for
industrialisation to create employments, set up of more universities,
expansion of rail lines, construction of bridges and other facilities in
Rangpur region.

Dr Rahman said the seminar was arranged to prepare an action plan for
development involving entrepreneurs and industrialists of the backward
Rangpur division according to their needs to ensure uniform progress in the
region.

He said, “The present government is firmly committed to involve Rangpur
region with the mainstream development of the country on way to build a
middle income nation by 2021 and developed country by 2041.”

“It is very essential to create new entrepreneurs, increase per capita
income and reduce regional discrimination for attaining the sustainable
development goals,” he said.
