Bangabandhu murder trial upset anti-Bangladesh conspirators: FFs

By Mamun Islam

RANGPUR, Aug 07, 2018 (BSS) – Freedom fighters in this northwestern
district have said they believe the belated Bangabandhu murder trial exposing
assassins to justice largely frustrated an anti-Bangladesh design as the
nation observes the Month of Mourning.

“The perpetrators of Bangabandhu murder wanted to bury the spirit of the
War of Liberation in a bid to revive Pakistan,” Shawkat Ali Sarker, who was
awarded gallantry Bir Bikrom for his role in the battle field, told BSS.

Sarker, who is now the chairman of Chilmari upazila of the district,
however, said he believed the trial largely upset the conspirators.

“The nation have foiled the conspiracies and completed trial of the killers
of Bangabandhu, executed most of the killers and the process of bringing back
absconding killers home for execution continues to free the country from the
enemies,” he added.

Taramon Bibi, another gallantry award winning freedom fighter, said the
anti-liberation forces assassinated Bangabandhu as a part of their deep-
rooted conspiracy to reverse spirit of the War of Liberation and destroy our
independence and sovereignty to turn Bangladesh into Pakistan again.

“It was impossible for me to believe that Bangabandhu might be killed on
the just-liberated soil where the great leader sacrificed his whole life
(including 12 years in jail) to serve Bengali nation,” she added.

However, Taramon, Bir Pratik, commended Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina’s farsighted and dynamic leadership for initiating
trials of the killers of Father of the Nation and war criminals and
implementation their executions awarded by courts on this soil.

Noted educationist Professor Mozammel Hossain said people got puzzled at
dawn on August 15 in 1975 after listening about assassination of Bangabandhu
and most of his family members by some unruly army men on radio.

“The killers of Bangabandhu and conspirators wanted to overturn the
country’s hard-earned independence,” he said.

Professor Hossain, a former treasurer of Begum Rokeya University, said the
anti-liberation forces are still hatching conspiracies to hinder faster
development when the nation is on its way to realise Bangabandhu’s dream of
building Sonar Bangla.

Rangpur district Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad Mosaddek
Hossain Bablu said Bangabandhu just engaged himself in rebuilding the war-
torn nation in spirit of the War of Liberation when he was assassinated right
at that time.

“Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are inseparable and we would never get
independence without Bangabandhu,” he said.

Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan
Kalimullah said the anti-liberation forces did not halt their evil designs
after killing Bangabandhu, but were still hatching conspiracies to turn
Bangladesh into a failed state.

“Bangladesh was born because of Bangabandhu and our country would become a
developed one long ago if Bangabandhu was alive,” he said, adding that the
killers of Bangabandhu were conducting militancy and terrorism to destabilise
the country.

General Secretary of Rangpur Ghatok-Dalal Nirmul Committee Moazzem Hossain
Lablu said the deep-rooted conspiracy to reverse independence and spirit of
War of Liberation through assassination of Bangabandhu has finally failed.

“Under leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has already
fulfilled the criteria for graduating to a developing nation on its way to
become developed country by 2041,” he added.

Rangpur Chamber President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu said, “The brave
people never bowed down to the assassins and brought out processions at many
places to protest the killing of Bangabandhu despite suffocating situation
created by the conspirators.”

“Overcoming all conspiracies, Bangladesh is now on the highway of
development to become the developed Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu
under the able leadership of his daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,”
Titu added.

Talking to BSS, a number of freedom fighters, politicians, teachers,
businesspersons, civil society members, farmers, labourers and common people
also remembered Bangabandhu’s memories with heavy heart.

All of them said the assassination of Bangabandhu and most of his family
members was a deep-rooted conspiracy of the defeated anti-liberation forces
in 1971.
