NBR, IFC to ink MoU to set up nat’l single window

DHAKA, Aug 6, 2018 (BSS) – National Board of Revenue (NBR) and
International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group will sign a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) tomorrow to set up the National Single
Window (NSW), a virtual platform for business to do business from home.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith will be present at the MoU signing ceremony as
the chief guest while Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Planning Minister AHM
Mustafa Kamal, State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan and
President of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry
(FBCCI) M Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin will be present as special guests.

NBR Chairman M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan will preside over the function.

Talking to BSS, NBR member (Customs, Audit, Modernization and International
Trade) Khondaker Muhammad Aminur Rahman said the NSW system will enhance the
trade operations by eliminating paper work and reducing time through
maintaining up-to-date information.

Through the NSW, the parties involved in trade will lodge standardized
information and documents with a single entry point to fulfill all import,
export, and transit-related regulatory requirements, he added.

He said the virtual platform technology simplifies trade, saves time and
money and increases efficiency by submitting export, import documentation and
transit-related regulatory requirements through one electronic portal.
