Price fall in large-cap drives stocks further down

DHAKA, August 6, 2018 (BSS) – Stock markets closed on Monday with downward
trends mainly due to price fall in large-cap securities.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with
3.61 points down at 5,353.42.

The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with
2.87 points down at 1,249.36 and with 2.27 points down at 1,249.36
respectively.

The daily trade fell to 17.51 crore shares from Sunday’s 20.65 crore
shares. But, the day’s trade value at the DSE increased to Taka 639.31 crore
from Taka 659.22 crore of the previous session.

At the DSE, prices of 108 securities out of the day’s 335 closed higher
against 187 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Regent Textile, BD Auto Cars, Tosrifa,
Interco and Monno Stafflers. The major losing companies were Padma Life,
SAVEREFR, BGIC, Sonar Bangla Insurance and Asia Pacific Insurance.

ACFL topped the turnover list followed by UPGDCL, BSSL, SAIHAMTEX and
Brac Bank.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with
downward trends with its major CASPI 52.47 points down at 16,438.92.

At the CSE, 242 issues were traded. Of those, 78 closed higher and 138
closed lower when 97.37 lakh shares worth Taka 35.56 crore changed hands.
