Tigers fight back to square T20I series

DHAKA, Aug. 5, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh cricketers did what doctor ordered
them that to bat and ball well and they romped home to square the three-match
T20I series 1-1 as they beat West Indies by 12 runs in the second T20 match
held on Sunday at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground,
Lauderhill in Florida.

Chasing a winning target of 172 runs set by Bangladesh, West Indies found
the chase stiff and eventually they were restricted at 159 for 9 in 20 overs.

Thanks to Mustafizur Rahman, Nazmul Islam and Shakib Al Hasan for their
immaculate bowling display that helped Bangladesh to defend the total.

West Indies plunged into deep trouble as they lost their four batsmen
inside 7.1 overs.

But Andre Fletcher and Rovman Powell kept West Indies on course with an
important 58-run fifth wicket stand to take West Indies to a comfortable
position.

Opener Andre Fletcher fell to Nazmul Islam after scoring 38-ball off 43-
run with the help of three boundaries and two over boundaries while
Mustafizur removed Rovman Powell in the crucial stage ending West Indies all
hope of victory.

Powell who also made 34-ball off 43 that contained three boundaries and
two over.

Nazmul Islam and Mustafizur Rahman were the pick of Bangladesh bowlers
taking three West Indies wickets for 28 and 50 runs respectively.

They were well supported by Shakib Al Hasan who bagged two wickets
conceding 19 runs.

Tamim Iqbal of Bangladesh was named the player of the match for his
impressive batting performance. Earlier two brilliant half centuries by Tamim
Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan enabled Tigers to post a challenging 171 for 5
wickets in their allotted 20 overs after they were forced to bat first. The
southpaw opener Tamim blasted 44-ball off 74 runs hitting six boundaries and
four over boundaries before he fell to Andre Russell.

And during the process, Tamim also shared 90 run fourth wicket partnership
with Shakib Al Hasan who chopped away 38-ball off 60-run with the help of
nine boundaries and one over boundary.

Ashley Nurse and Keemo Paul shared two Bangladesh wickets conceding 25 and
39 runs respectively.

The series deciding final T20 will be held tomorrow at the same venue.
