RCC starts speed breaker construction on city streets
RAJSHAHI, Aug 4, 2018 (BSS)- Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has started
constructing speed breakers on the busy streets in front of the educational
institutions in the city aiming at freeing those from road traffic accidents.
“We will construct 26 speed breakers at 13 critical points in the
metropolis and we have already started the works,” said Ashraful Haque, chief
engineer of RCC.
He said the initiative will help to avert road accidents in front of the
city’s educational institutions and the students can also cross the roads
safely.
“We are expecting that the construction works will be completed as soon as
possible,” said Engineer Shahabuddin of the appointed contractor farm.
Quality of works will be maintained, he added.
Professor Taifur Rahman, Principal of Rajshahi Education Board Model
School and College, appreciated the initiative. He said the road in front of
his college was very risky and accident-prone.
Prof Rahman expected that the speed breaker will contribute a lot towards
facilitating the students to cross the road safely.
