Govt increases hajj pilgrim replacement rate to 15pc

DHAKA, August 2, 2018 (BSS) – The government has increased the hajj pilgrim replacement rate for the hajj agencies to 15 percent from the existing 8 percent.

“The hajj agencies will need to apply on their own official pads for increasing the replacement of hajj pilgrims to 15 percent by 5 pm on August 3 to the director of Hajj Office located at Askona in the city,” said an official release here today.

Besides, the hajj agencies will have to submit the certificates of authorized doctors for the concerned pilgrims who are sick or dead, the release added.

The agencies will also have to submit an affidavit on a non-judicial stamp of Taka 300 that the given information is not fake, it said.

The hajj officials will scrutinise the given information, the release said, adding that if they found any irregularities or false information, the government will take necessary steps.

The Religious Affairs Ministry sources said there are 1,26,798 hajj pilgrims this year. Of them, 6,798 are going under the management of government while 1,20,000 under private management.

The hajj flights begun on July 14 and will continue till August 15. The return hajj flights will begin on August 27 and continue till September 25.
