RANGPUR, Aug 02, 2018 (BSS) – The Rangpur city unit of Awami League (AL)
has finalised programmes to observe the National Mourning Day- 2018 and 43rd
martyrdom anniversary of Architect of Independence and Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15.
The programmes were adopted after elaborate discussions at a preparatory
meeting held at city AL office in Betpotti area here on Wednesday night.
President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi presided over the meeting
moderated by its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal.
Vice-presidents of city AL Idris Ali and Shah Md Nabiullah Panna, General
Secretary of district Swechchasebak League Ramjan Ali Tuhin and President of
city unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League Shafiur Rahman Swadhin, among others,
addressed.
Former Mayor of defunct Rangpur pourashava Abdur Rouf Manik, leaders of the
city and different ward units of AL and its associate bodies attended the
meeting.
The observance will begin with hoisting of the national and party flags at
half-mast and placing wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman the party office at 6 am on August 15.
Later, a mourning procession will be brought out from the party office to
Bangabandhu Square where wreaths will be placed at the Mural of Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The programmes also include arranging of spontaneous blood donation camps,
discussion, milad mahfil and offering special munajats.
