Austrian unemployment falls to 6.9 pct in July

VIENNA, Aug. 2, 2018 (BSS/Xinhua) – Unemployment in Austria in July was
6.9 percent, registering a 0.7-percent year-on-year decline, the Public
Employment Service Austria (AMS) revealed on Wednesday.

The total number of registered unemployed persons in the country fell by 8
percent to 282,583, while those involved in further schooling or training,
included in the unemployment figures, fell 8.2 percent to 58,010.

The total number of non-self-employed persons conversely increased by
about 85,000, to a nationwide total of 3.825 million.

The number of newly available jobs increased 21.6 percent compared with
July of 2017, to reach just under 80,000, the AMS said.

The declining jobless figures were recorded across all states in the
country, with Tyrol seeing the largest decline of 17.5 percent.
