DHAKA, August 1, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the government is committed to stop reckless driving by drivers of vehicles on roads.

“The students are waging their movement and they have emotions…We strongly believe that the government is against the reckless driving and their (drivers) aggression must be stopped. Our government is committed to stop this,” he said, speaking at a discussion at the Conference Lounge of Jatiya Press Club (JPC) here.

Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad (BSP) organized the discussion marking the National Mourning Day and the 43rd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15.

Food Minister Advocate Kamrul Islam addressed the discussion as the key speaker with BSP President Omar Bin Aziz Tamim in the chair.

Muktijoddha Sangsad Command Council Vice President Ismat Kadir Gama, Professor Fazlul Haque, AL leaders Nurul Amin Ruhul and Advocate Bolaram Poddar, among others, addressed the discussion.

Mahmud said the government is working to stop brutal road accidents like the killing of students. Road Transport Act will be placed in the next cabinet meeting, he added.

He said the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members on the fateful night of August 15, 1975 is the ugliest chapter of the nation’s history.

Mahmud, also a spokesperson of the ruling party, said the self-confessed killers of August 15 did not assassinate Bangabandhu alone, but also killed 16 other members of his family, friends and relatives.

Kamrul Islam said the parliament election is coming. But BNP is busy in hatching conspiracy over the polls.

He urged all AL leaders and activists to remain alert against all types of conspiracies.
