Two luxurious vehicles seized for tax evasion
DHAKA, July 31, 2018 (BSS) – Members of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) today seized two luxurious sport utility vehicles (SUVs) from capital Dhaka and port city Chattogram over the charges of tax evasion.
Of the two, a Toyota Harrier Lexus numbered Bhola Gha-11-0034, priced at around Taka one crore, was seized from Uttara area in Dhaka, while the Land Rover Defender, numbered Bhola Gha-11-0036, priced around Take 1.75 crore, was seized from a workshop in Chattogram.
“The owner, who is also the user of the Toyota SUV, is from Chattogram and sensing the monitoring of customs intelligence officials, he hidden the vehicle in Uttara, Dhaka. The Japanese vehicle was brought in the country evading taxes,” Director General of CIID told BSS.
Meanwhile, founding the Land Rover Defender, British four-wheel drive off-road vehicle, at a garage in Chattogram, customs officials kept it under the custody of the garage owner. After getting sure about the tax evasion, in bringing the vehicle, customs intelligence men seized it today.
Filing of cases in these regard is underway.
