41 rivers register rise, 43 fall

DHAKA, July 31, 2018 (BSS) – Water levels in 41 river stations monitored by
Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rises and 43 stations
recorded falls.

Among the 94 monitored water level stations, nine are steady, a bulletin
issued by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) said today.

The Brahmaputra river is in rising trend and the Jamuna river is in steady
state.

The Brahmaputra river may continue rising, while the Jamuna River may rise
in next 24 hours.

The Ganges river is in rising trend and the Padma river is in steady
state.

The Ganges river may continue rising in the next 72 hours, while the Padma
River may rise in the next 24 hours.

The Surma-Kushiyra rivers of Upper Meghna basin in the North-Eastern
region are in rising trend which may continue in the next 48 hours.

According to information of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, there is
a chance of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Northern and South-Eastern
regions of the country in the next 24 to 48 hours.

The Dharla and Teesta rivers in the Northern region and the Gumti, Muhuri,
Feni, Halda, Sangu, Matamuhuri rivers in the South-Eastern region may rise
rapidly in next 24 to 48 hours.

A total of 60 mm rainfall was recorded during the last 24 hours ending at
6 am today at Moheshkhola, 53 mm at Durgapur, 51 mm at Jariajanjail and 45 mm
at Lorergarh.
