51 rivers register rise, 39 fall

DHAKA, July 30, 2018 (BSS) – Water levels in 51 river stations monitored by
Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rises and 39 stations
recorded falls.

Among the 94 monitored water level stations, four are steady, a bulletin
issued by FFWC said today.

The Brahmaputra river may rise and the Jamuna river may remain in steady
state in the next 24 to 48 hours.

The Ganges-Padma rivers is in rising trend which may continue rising in
the next 48 hours.

The major rivers of Upper Meghna basin in the North-Eastern region are in
rising trend which may continue rising in next 48 hours.

According to information of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, there is
a chance of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the northern region of the
country in the next 48 to 72 hours.

As a result, the Dharla and Teesta rivers in the Northern region may rise
rapidly.

A total of 117 mm rainfall was recorded during the last 24 hours ending at
6 am today at Moheshkhola, 95 mm at Bogra, 71 mm at Cox’s Bazar, 60 mm at
Sunamganj, 59 mm at Lama and 55 mm at Lalakhal, 52 mm at Dinajpur and 50 mm
at Chattak.
