DHAKA, July 30, 2018 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested
two drivers and two helpers of two buses responsible for a city road accident
that took place on the Airport Road yesterday, killing two students on the
spot.
A team of RAB-1 apprehended the four by conducting drives in different
areas of the city last night, deputy commandant of RAB-1 Major Ishtiaq Ahmed
told BSS.
The two drivers of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan are Jubayer and Sohag while
identities of their helpers could not be known immediately.
The arrestees were handed over to Cantonment Police Station in the city,
Ishtiaq said.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cantonment Police Station Shahan Haque said a
case was filed against the drivers and their helpers last night.
Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin
Cantonment College, were killed as a bus of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan run over
them in front of city’s Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road on Sunday.
Hundreds of students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College blocked the
Airport Road this morning demanding harsher punishment of the people
responsible for the road accident which claimed the lives of the two
students.
