2 rebels killed in eastern India
NEW DELHI, July 30, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) — At least two Naxalite rebels have
killed by Indian security forces in an encounter in eastern state of
Jharkhand, police said Monday.
The gunfight took place in the dense forests of Gopikander in the state’s
Dumka district.
“The Naxalites opened fire on security forces while they were on routine
patrolling Sunday. The forces retaliated, killing two rebels on the spot,” a
police official said.
“Arms and ammunition have been recovered from the possession of the
deceased,” he added.
Jharkhand is one of the seven Indian states hit by Naxalite violence.
