Alleged drug peddler killed in Rajshahi gunfight
RAJSHAHI, July 29, 2018 (BSS) – An alleged drug peddler was killed during a
gunfight between his cohorts and members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at
Noboganga area under Paba Upazila of the district in the early hours of
today.
According to the RAB sources, the deceased was identified as Mukul, 45, a
‘top drug trafficker’ and wanted in seven cases, including charges of drug
trafficking and other crimes.
The RAB officials said that their team members were patrolling in the area
at the early of hours.
Suddenly they noticed few people walking around suspiciously; when a RAB
team challenged them, they opened fire at the RAB officials forcing them to
retaliate with gunshots.
After the gunfight, Mukul’s bullet hit body was recovered from the spot and
taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where the attending doctors
declared him dead.
Major Ashraful Islam, Deputy Commanding Officer of RAB-5, said two RAB
officials were also injured in the incident and were given first aid.
A pistol, a magazine, bullets, 58 bottles of Phensedyl, a torch and a weapon
were recovered from the scene, he added.
