40 cows die due to mysterious disease in Delhi

NEW DELHI, July 28, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) – At least 40 cows have died in a
village in west Delhi over the past two days, reportedly due to the spread of
a mysterious disease, local police said on Saturday.

The deaths were reported from a huge cow farm in village Ghummanhera,
located in west Delhi. A probe has been ordered into the sudden deaths of
bovines, even as villagers fear the spread of an epidemic.

A senior Delhi Police cop said that veterinary doctors were conducting an
inquiry into the cow deaths, including post-mortem of all the dead bovines.

Once the doctors report is submitted, further legal action in accordance
with the prevalent laws would be taken, said the police official.

The cowshed is spread over 20 acres of land and exists here since 1995.
With about 1,400 cows, mostly abandoned, sheltered at the cowshed, there are
around 20 workers to look after them, said a villager.
