Eight drug traders surrender in Kaliganj

RANGPUR, July 27, 2018 (BSS) – Eight absconding drug traders surrendered
before the law enforcement agencies at a function held on Chandrapur High
School and College ground under Kaliganj upazila in Lalmonirhat district on
Thursday night.

Superintendent of Police (SP) for Lalmonirhat attended the function as the
chief guest while Chandrapur Union Parishad organised it.

All the surrendered drug traders formally took oath giving commitments to
the police administration that they will never involve in any illegal drug-
related activities.

With Chandrapur union Chairman Jahangir Alam in the chair, Kaliganj Upazila
Nirbahi Officer Rabiul Hassan, Assistant Superintendent of Police (B Circle)
Hossain Shaheed Sohrawardi, General Secretary of Lalmonirhat district
Community Policing Committee Mizanur Rahman and Officer-in-Charge of Kaliganj
Thana Mokbul Hossain addressed the event as special guests.

On the occasion, drug traders Khabir Uddin, Shablu Mian, Hafizur Rahman,
Bablu Mian, Mofazzal Hossain and Rabiul Islam of Khamarbhati village and
Faruk Hossain and Shahinur Islam of Lotabor village under Chandrapur union
surrendered.

Welcoming the surrendered drug traders to the mainstream society, the SP
said they must forget their previous bad activities and police would assist
them to rehabilitate, if necessary, so that they could begin normal life.

“We have to hate drugs to save the society from the wrath of drugs,” he
said and called upon the other drug traders to give up the illegal drug
business and come back to normal life.
