Heavy rainfall likely by tomorrow

DHAKA, July 26, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD)
today predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at places over
Chattogram, Khulna and Barishal divisions in the next 24 hours ending at 4 pm
tomorrow.

“Due to active monsoon, heavy (44-88 mm) to very heavy (>89 mm) rainfall
is likely to occur at places over Chattogram, Khulna and Barishal divisions
during the next 24 hours commencing from 4 pm today,” said a warning message
of the department issued today.

Due to very heavy rainfall, landslide may occur at places over the hilly
regions of Chattogram division, the message read.

Besides, the Met office in a press release predicted light to moderate
rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind at most places
over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet
divisions in 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow.

Day and night temperature may remain unchanged over the country during
the period.

The maximum temperature was recorded 33.5 degree celsius yesterday at
Srimangal in Sylhet division while today’s minimum temperature 24.5 degrees
celsius at Cox’s Bazar in Chattogram division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6 am today was recorded
315 mm at Cox’s Bazar in Chattogram division.

The sun sets at 6:45 pm today and rises at 5:26 am tomorrow in the
capital.
