DSCC announces Tk 3,598 crore budget
DHAKA, July 25, 2018 (BSS) – The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC)
today announced its annual budget of Tk 3598.75 crore for the FY2018-19.
DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon unveiled the budget at a press
conference at Mayor Hanif Conference room of the Nagar Bhaban here.
The revised budget for the FY2017-18 stood at Tk 2014.31 crore while the
actual budget was Tk 3,337.67. The DSCC has increased Taka 261.8 crore in the
budget for FY 2018-19 in comparison to FY2017-18.
In his budget speech, the mayor said the DSCC projected to collect a
total of Tk 909.42 crore as revenue to meet the budget financing from its own
sources while the mayor is expecting to get Tk 2558.48 crore as government
and foreign assistances for different projects.
The corporation is expected the largest income of Taka 330 crore from
holding tax, the second largest income of Taka 305 crore from Bazar Salami
and the third largest income of Taka 100 crore from asset transfer taxes.
DSCC is set to spend Taka 742.83 crore for development and maintenance
of road and traffic infrastructure while Taka 143.75 crore for development of
children parks and playing grounds, Taka 340 crore for salary and other
benefits of its employees, Taka 395.26 crore for development and maintenance
of physical structures and Taka 26 crore for controlling mosquito menace.
In his budget speech, the mayor said, the city corporations is set to
arrange burial and cremation of the city dwellers free of cost irrespective
of the rich and poor and construct old home at the city corporation area.
Chief Executive Officer of the DSCC, Khan Mohammad Belal, its high
officials and councilors of different wards were present on the occasion.
