Greek wildfires death toll rises to 79: firefighters
ATHENS, July 25, 2018 (BSS/AFP) – At least 79 people have died in
wildfires around Athens, Greek authorities said Wednesday in a new toll, with
rescuers searching for survivors of one of the deadliest blazes in Europe’s
modern history.
Fire service spokeswoman Stavroula Maliri said 79 people were known to
have perished, surpassing the 77 who died in a fire on a southern Greek
island in 2007.
