One killed in gunfight with RAB in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, July 25, 2018 (BSS) – An alleged drug-peddler was killed in a
gunfight between RAB and his cohorts in Kasba area under Paba Upazila in the
district last night.
According to the RAB, the deceased was identified as Sazzad Hossain, 43,
of Haripur Banpara village under the same upazila.
He was a listed drug-trader and seven cases relating to drug-trading,
robbery and kidnapping remained pending with different police stations.
The Rab officials told the local journalists that a patrol team of the
elite force asked a group of suspected drug peddlers to surrender following
their suspected movement in the area around 1 am.
Sensing danger, the gang opened fire on the elite force members near
Kosba High School. In retaliation, the Rab members fired back that triggered
the “gunfight”, said Maj Ashraful Islam of Rab-5.
At one stage of the “gunfight”, the group of drugs peddlers fled the
scene leaving bullet-hit Sazzad on the spot, he said.
He was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the attending
doctors declared him dead.
Later, Rab members seized 55 bottles of Phensidyl, a foreign pistol, one
bullet, two cartridges from the scene.
