11 more die of Covid-19, 1,023 test positive afresh in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 20, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 1,023 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in all eight districts of the division on Saturday, raising the number of infections to 47,257.

With 11 more fatalities from the disease were reported afresh on the day, the death toll reached 726, including 343 in Bogura and 124 in Rajshahi with 74 in its city, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.

The new daily infection figure shows a record escalating trend compared to the previous day’s figure of 345, said the health department sources.

Among the infected people, 35,310 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 484 new recoveries found on Saturday.

A total of 4,673 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here. Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 10,484 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision.

Of them, 7,968 have by now been released. On the other hand, 489 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 116 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 377 were detected in Rajshahi, including 292 in its city, followed by 230 in Naogaon, 145 in Natore, 102 in Chapainawabganj, 74 in Bogura, 45 in Joypurhat, 27 in Sirajganj and 23 in Pabna districts.

With the new detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 14,168 in Rajshahi, including 11,500 in its city, 3,543 in Chapainawabganj, 3,596 in Naogaon, 2,750 in Natore, 2,730 in Joypurhat, 12,872 in Bogura, 4,011 in Sirajganj and 3,587 in Pabna.

A total of 78,846 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 73,405 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.
