Swarnavo takes solo lead after 5th round
DHAKA, June 19, 2021 (BSS)- Swarnavo Choudhury of Bangladesh Ansar took solo lead with maximum five points after the fifth round of International Rating Chess tournament now being held at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room and Shaheed captain Sheikh Kamal Auditorium Lounge of National Sports Council tower in the city.
Four players are sharing the second position with 4.5 points. They are GM Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh Police, IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin and FM Subrota Biswas of Bangladesh Navy and CM Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Uttara Central Chess Club.
Eleven players bagged four points and sharing the third position. They are IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman and FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Bangladesh Police, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed and WCM Ahmed Walijah of Bangladesh Navy, Jabed Al Azad of Titas Club, Mohammad Aminul Islam of Shahin Chess Club, Afzal Hossain Sachchu of Dhaka Chess Club, CM Sadnan Hasan Dihan of Sports Bangla, Abu Hanif of Uttara Central Chess Club, Feroz Ahmed of Sultana Kalam Smirity Pathagar and Md Anisuzzaman Jewel of Khelaghor Daba Sangah, Gopalganj.
In the day’s fifth round matches, Swarnavo beat FM Parag, GM Zia beat CM Manon Reja Neer, FM Subrota beat Jabed, IM Minhaz beat CM Md Jamal Uddin, CM Tahsin beat FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, IM Fahad beat CM Sharif Hossain, Sachchu beat Anata Choudhury, FM Nasir beat Mukitul Islam Ripon, Aminul beat Abdul Momin, CM Dihan beat Rabby Salim, WCM Walijah beat CM Mahtabuddin Ahmed, Hanif beat FM Md Saif Uddin, Feroz beat Sajedul Haque and Jewel beat CM Shawket Bin Osman Shaon.
The sixth round games start tomorrow (Sunday) from 3 pm at the same venues.
