3 of a family die in Bogura road accident
BOGURA, June 19, 2021 (BSS) – Three people, including a woman and a child, were killed in a road accident at Hatibandha area on the Bogra-Rangpur highway today.
The fatal accident resulted from a collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a passenger bus in the morning, police said.
The deceased were identified as Ashraf Uddin, 50, his wife Parul Begum, 42, and their 1.5-month old daughter. All of them were residents of Jumarbari area under Saghata upazila of Gaibandha.
Besides, at least 15 passengers of the bus were injured in the accident.
Gobindaganj Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Khairul Islam (OC) told BSS that the victims were going to Bogra for their daughter’s treatment.
On the way from Dhaka to Rangpur, a speeding bus came from the opposite direction at Hatibandha area in Mahasthan of Shibganj upazila and hit the CNG.
Ashraf Uddin and his wife Parul Begum died on the spot. Later, their baby girl also died on the way to the hospital. Another passenger and driver of the CNG were admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra, highway police said.
Some of the injured were discharged after giving first aid treatment at the same hospital.
Shibganj Thana ASI Mizanur Rahman told BSS that vehicles have been seized, even though the bus driver managed to flee the spot.
No case was filed in this regard so far, he said.
