8 more die of Covid-19, 345 test positive afresh in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 19, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 345 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in all eight districts of the division on Friday, raising the number of infections to 46,234.

With eight more fatalities from the disease were reported afresh on the day, the death toll reached 715, including 340 in Bogura and 121 in Rajshahi with 73 in its city, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.

The new daily infection figure shows a significant declining trend compared to the previous day’s figure of 818, said the health department sources.

Among the infected people, 34,826 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 110 new recoveries found on Friday.

A total of 4,638 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here. Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 10,366 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision.

Of them, 7,943 have by now been released. On the other hand, 125 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 89 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 134 were detected in Rajshahi city, followed by 79 in Naogaon, 41 in Bogura, 37 in Pabna, 28 in Natore, 12 in Chapainawabganj, 8 in Joypurhat and 6 in Sirajganj districts.

With the new detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 13,791 in Rajshahi, including 11,208 in its city, 3,441 in Chapainawabganj, 3,366 in Naogaon, 2,605 in Natore, 2,685 in Joypurhat, 12,798 in Bogura, 3,984 in Sirajganj and 3,564 in Pabna.

A total of 78,357 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 73,289 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

Meanwhile, a total of 4,10,912 people received second doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the city and eight districts of Rajshahi division since the nationwide second dose vaccination began on April 8 last.

Of them, 10 people including 6 females took the second jabs in Bogura district of the division on Tuesday last, Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder told BSS.
