DHAKA, June 18, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said BNP is the mastermind of destroying the country’s democratic, natural and political atmospheres.

“BNP’s politics of killing and terrorism had taken the country backward. Now Bangladesh is heading towards peace and prosperity under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he told a regular press conference on contemporary issues at his official residence here.

Quader said if state power goes to BNP, the country would again be submerged in darkness and the nation would see the valley of deaths.

“BNP does politics of vengeance. If they get power, they will lunch massive killings,” he said.

Terming BNP as patron of communalism and violence, he said the country and its people are not safe in the hands of BNP as their politics is deadlier than virus.

He announced the AL’s programme for its 72nd founding anniversary to be observed on June 23.

The programme includes hoisting of party and national flags atop all offices of the party including the central office at dawn on June 13 and placing of wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the premises of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi road number 32 at 9am on the same day.

A discussion will be arranged at Bangabandhu Avenue at 3pm. Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will join the discussion virtually from her official Ganabhaban residence. Special supplements will be published in national dailies to mark the day.

AL’s research wing Centre for Research and Information (CRI) will arrange a webinar and carry out campaign on digital platform highlighting the achievements and contributions of the party for the country.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader urged the party’s all organizational units and associate bodies to celebrate the day across the country in line with the central programme maintaining health guidelines.

“We cannot celebrate the founding anniversary of Awami League in a proper manner in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. But we will celebrate the anniversary on a limited scale through indoor programme,” he said.
