GAIBANDHA, June 17, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 400 jobless people of Fulchhari union under Fulchhari upazila in the district get rice from the government as GR (General relief) to mitigate their sufferings due to corona pandemic.
Local sources said the poor, particularly the people hand to mouth and farm day laborers have become jobless due to the negative impact of ongoing corona pandemic. As a result, the affected people were passing their days with hardships and their sorrows knew no bounds.
Taking this view, the Union Parishad (UP) chairman Abdul Gafur Mondal submitted applications to the district and upazila administrations seeking their help to minimize the sorrows of the affected people of the union.
In response, the administrations allotted 40 tonnes of rice as GR for the affected people of the union.
As per the directives of the administrations, the rice was distributed to the selected people of the union from the upazila parishad premises on Wednesday.
Each of the people got 10 kgs of rice.
After getting the rice from the government, the beneficiary people are happy and expressed their gratitude to the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for standing beside them with staple food rice during the pandemic situation.
