81 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 16, 2021 (BSS) – Eighty-one more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive at two laboratories today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues rising speedily in recent weeks.

“The 81 new cases were reported after diagnosing 282 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 28.72 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 30.18 percent on Tuesday, 30.77 percent on Monday, 29.02 percent on Sunday, 27.50 percent on Saturday, 23.98 percent on Friday and 26.04 percent on Thursday last in the division.

Among the 81 new patients diagnosed today, 17 were reported positive after diagnosing 94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 17 new patients include six from Rangpur, eight from Kurigram and three from Gaibandha districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 9 pm.

On the other hand, 64 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 64 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 49 from Dinajpur, 11 from Thakurgaon and four from Panchagarh districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 20,822 as 81 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 20,822 patients stands at 5,293 in Rangpur, 865 in Panchagarh, 1,632 in Nilphamari, 1,216 in Lalmonirhat, 1,370 in Kurigram, 2,121 in Thakurgaon, 6,492 in Dinajpur and 1,833 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
