Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe
DHAKA, June 16, 2021 (BSS) – Stocks today witnessed an upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The major rising sectors were insurance, service and real estate and fuel and power. A total of 144 large cap securities moved up on higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 29.43 points up at 6,051.73. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 followed the same trend with 4.60 points up at 1,288.67 and with 6.38 points up at 2,183.27 respectively.
The volume of shares decreased to 57.43 crore from Tuesday’s 58.16 crore shares. But, the daily turnover in value at the DSE rose to Taka 21,096.87 million from Tuesday’s Taka 20,325.86 million.
At the DSE, the price of 372 securities out of the day’s 182 closed higher against 156 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Popular Life, Republic, Delta Life, EHL and INTRACO while the major losing issues were Sonar Bangla Insurance, Dhaka Insurance, EPGL, SALAMCRST and LRBDL.
Beximco topped the turnover leaders followed by Pioneer Insurance, BBS Cables, Orion Pharma and Confidence Cement.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 66.53 points up at 17,530.54.
At the CSE, 318 issues were traded. Of those, 156 closed higher and 124 closed lower when 2.58 crore shares worth Taka 79.17 crore changed hands.
