Environment gives more importance in development activities: Speakers

CHATTOGRAM, June 15, 2021 (BSS) – Speakers in a virtual seminar at Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) said people have already done harmful activities to the environment.

“The environment is now showing its adverse effects on us. At present, various development activities are underway in our country. The environmental aspect should be given the most importance while carrying out development activities. Though the development activities cannot be compromised in the 21st century, we should care the environmental aspects,” the speakers opined.

The speakers told this in a virtual seminar on ‘Environmental Restoration Towards Circular Economy’ held on Monday evening at CUET on the occasion of World Environment Day.

The seminar jointly organized by Center for Environmental Science and Engineering Research and Department of Civil Engineering of CUET.

Sudip Kumar Pal, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering CUET presided over the function while Bangladesh University Grants Commission member Professor. Muhammad Alamgir addressed the function as chief guest.

The webinar was moderated by chairman of CUET research center, Prof. Farzana Rahman Juthi while CUET Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam addressed the function as special guest.

Professor Sadhan Kumar Ghosh, Mechanical Engineering, Department of Jadavpur University, in India presented keynote address at the seminar.

Teachers, students of different universities, representatives of government and non-government organizations of different countries including Bangladesh and India were attended in the seminar.
