IEB’s tree plantation programme marking ‘Mujib Year’

DHAKA, June 15, 2021 (BSS) – The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), Dhaka, today organised ‘100 Tree Planting Programme’ marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The event was held this afternoon at the IEB auditorium here following the health guidelines, an IEB press release said.

Deputy Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Habibun Nahar was present at the function as the chief guest, while Awami League science and technology affairs secretary Engineer Abdus Sabur, IEB general secretary Engineer Shahadat Hossain (Shiblu) and IEB vice president Engineer Nuruzzaman were present as the special guests.

IEB vice president Engineer Khandaker Manzur Morshed, Engineer Mohammad Hossain and Engineer MM Manjurul Haque Monju were also, among others, present.

Vice chairman of IEB Dhaka Centre Engineer Habib Ahmed Halim Murad presided over the function, while its honorary secretary Engineer Kazi Khairul Bashar moderated it.

Speaking on the occasion, Habibun Nahar said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman realised the issue of environment 50 years ago.

“His daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working to build Sonar Bangla dreamt by Bangabandhu. She is not only protecting the environment, but also improving the environment,” she said.

Earlier, the deputy minister planted saplings on the premises of the IEB, Dhaka.
