4 Ansar al-Islam militants remanded
DHAKA, June 15, 2021 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today placed four members of banned militant outfit Ansar al-Islam on four-day remand in a case lodged under anti-terror act.
The accused are Md Ilias Nahid, 40, Md Nurunnabi Islam, 25, Md Shahjalal, 36, and Saminur Rahman Sumon, 25.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khayer Jessy passed the order as police produced the four before the court and pleaded to place them on 10-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested the alleged militants from Diyabari intersection area under Turag Police Station on June 14.
According to the police, the arrestees used to collect funds for the militant organization and use those for arranging bail for the group members in jail. They also used to identify people against their beliefs online and mark them for execution by their group members.
