120 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 15, 2021 (BSS) – One hundred and twenty more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive at two laboratories today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues rising speedily in recent weeks.

“The 120 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 31.91 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 30.77 percent on Monday, 29.02 percent on Sunday, 27.50 percent on Saturday, 23.98 percent on Friday, 26.04 percent on Thursday and 31.25 percent on Wednesday last in the division.

Among the 120 new patients diagnosed today, 34 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 34 new patients include 19 from Rangpur, six each from Kurigram and Lalmonirhat, two from Thakurgaon and one from Dinajpur districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:30 pm.

On the other hand, 86 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 86 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 81 from Dinajpur and five from Thakurgaon districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 20,676 as 120 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 20,676 patients stands at 5,286 in Rangpur, 861 in Panchagarh, 1,630 in Nilphamari, 1,211 in Lalmonirhat, 1,356 in Kurigram, 2,056 in Thakurgaon, 6,449 in Dinajpur and 1,827 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
