Order regarding JU teachers’ recruitment on Sunday
Dhaka, June 15, 2021 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) division has fixed June 20 to deliver the order in the writ petition regarding the recruitment of teachers of Jahangirnagar University (JU) taking viva voce online.
Following the hearing on the writ petition, a High Court division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman set the date.
Also, the court asked to stop recruitment activities till the order.
Lawyers Anik R Haque and Syeda Nasrin appeared as the petitioners. Deputy Attorney General Arvind Kumar Roy represented the state.
On June 10, a writ petition was filed with the High Court challenging the validity of the appointment of six teachers in the philosophy department through an online recruitment process and seeking stay of the recruitment notice.
The Secretary of Education, Chairman of University Grant Commission (UGC), Vice Chancellor of JU, Registrar and other officials have been made respondents in the writ petition.
