14 more die of Covid-19, 712 test positive in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 15, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 712 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in all eight districts of the division on Monday, climbing the number of infections to 43,613.

Death toll from the disease reached 672, including 327 in Bogura and 112 in Rajshahi with 67 in its city, while 14 more fatalities were reported afresh on the day, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.

The new daily infection figure shows a significant rising trend compared to the previous day’s figure of 646, said the health department sources.

“Among the infected people, 33,958 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 126 new recoveries found on Monday,” said Dr Talukder, adding that a total of 4,451 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here.

Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 9,792 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 7,741 have by now been released.

On the other hand, 331 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 164 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 353 were detected in Rajshahi, including 271 in its city, followed by 72 in Naogaon, 69 in Joypurhat, 61 in Natore, 49 in Chapainawabganj, 46 in Bogura, 43 in Pabna, and 19 in Sirajganj districts.

With the new detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 12,621 in Rajshahi, including 10,290 in its city, 3,250 in Chapainawabganj, 3,070 in Naogaon, 2,326 in Natore, 2,448 in Joypurhat, 12,613 in Bogura, 3,887 in Sirajganj and 3,398 in Pabna.

A total of 76,971 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 72,853 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

Meanwhile, a total of 4,10,902 people received second doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the city and eight districts of Rajshahi division since the nationwide second dose vaccination began on April 8 last.

Of them, 539 people including 218 females took the second jabs in Bogura and Chapainawabganj districts of the division on Sunday, Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder told BSS.

He also said 410 people including 162 females received the vaccines in Bogura district, while 129 including 56 females in Chapainawabganj on the day.
