79 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 14, 2021 (BSS) – Seventy-nine more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive at two laboratories today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues rising hastily during the last few days.

“The 79 new cases were reported after diagnosing 282 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 28.01 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 29.02 percent on Sunday, 27.50 percent on Saturday, 23.98 percent on Friday, 26.04 percent on Thursday, 31.25 percent on Wednesday and 32.03 percent on Tuesday last in the division.

Among the 79 new patients diagnosed today, 50 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 50 new patients include 22 from Rangpur, 16 from Kurigram, four from Lalmonirhat, five from Gaibandha, two from Nilphamari and one from Panchagarh districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:50 pm.

On the other hand, 29 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing only 94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 29 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 26 from Dinajpur, two from Thakurgaon and one from Panchagarh districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 20,487 as 79 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 20,489 patients currently stands at 5,265 in Rangpur, 861 in Panchagarh, 1,619 in Nilphamari, 1,199 in Lalmonirhat, 1,347 in Kurigram, 2,008 in Thakurgaon, 6,367 in Dinajpur and 1,821 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
