President stresses quality medical education

DHAKA, July 24, 2018 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today asked all concerned to ensure quality medical education so the students can complete their medical study with excellence at all public and private medical colleges of the country.

“There is no alternative to ensuring quality medical education . . . Supervision by the authorities concerned is a must to make sure that students can attain efficiency in medical science,” the President said when a delegation of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here this afternoon.

The President stressed strengthening supervision on country’s medical education so the students of medical colleges across the country can complete their study with efficiency, President’s Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin told BSS.

BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Kanak Kanti Barua led the 13-mmember delegation.

President Hamid was apprised by the VC of the university’s overall activities, including curriculums, training, research, medical services and infrastructural development.

The President was informed that 1774 research works were done successfully from 2001 to June, 2018 and the BSMMU authority set up the Institute of Pediatric Neurology and Autism for the treatment of autism-affected children.

Abdul Hamid gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them of his overall cooperation.
